This 1957 Volvo PV444 is a non-running project that was reportedly purchased new in San Luis Obispo, California, by the current owner’s father. The car was disassembled, repainted black, and put into storage in the early 1990s. It is equipped with a 1.6-liter inline-four and a three-speed manual gearbox. The car was inherited by the current owner in 2011 and remains partially disassembled. This PV444 is now offered on behalf of the current owner at no reserve with removed parts and a clean California title.
The car was reportedly repainted in its original black (19) before the car was stored for approximately 30 years. The headlight assemblies, front grille, and exterior trim are not installed. Parts that accompany the sale are pictured in the photo gallery below. The windshield glass is broken.
Painted steel wheels wear whitewall tires, and a spare tire is stored in the trunk. Volvo hubcaps are included in the sale.
The driver, passenger, and rear bench seats remain in the cabin along with the steering column and instrument panel. The headliner is in need of replacement, and corrosion is noted on the floorboards.
A 100-mph speedometer is set behind the three-spoke steering wheel along with gauges for oil pressure, amperage, and engine temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just under 44k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter B16 inline-four is fitted with dual SU carburetors and is paired with a three-speed manual transmission.
Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below.
Volvo badging, new body rubber parts, fender welting as well as door rubber and wind lace are included with the car.
