This 1963 Volvo 122S—dubbed Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride—was built by Jeff Allen of The Car Chasers in 2017 using a 7.0-liter Lingenfelter Performance LS7 V8, a C6 Corvette Grand Sport chassis and driveline, six-piston Baer disc brakes, 18″ Forgeline wheels, and a custom interior with Recaro seats, a yellow tartan headliner, air conditioning, power accessories, a custom audio system, and a Corvette dashboard and center console. The car was unveiled at the 2018 SEMA show and won a Golden Ticket at the Ultimate Street Car Invitational. It was also named “Most Beautiful” non-domestic car at the 2018 LS Fest. It has since been featured in Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw and two episodes of Drive Hard: The Maloof Way. This LS7-powered 122S was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered in Florida with a clean Arizona title.
The car is finished in what is described as BMW Austin Yellow and features bolt-on fender flares, powder-coated trim, and a SEMA Garage 3D-printed rear spoiler. The left front flare was damaged during the filming of a Drive Hard episode and was then signed by the cast and crew.
18″ monoblock Forgeline wheels are mounted with 275/35 and 315/30 BFGoodrich g-Force Rival tires. The chassis is from a 2013 Corvette Grand Sport, and Baer six-piston brake calipers have been added at all four corners.
The cabin has been outfitted with heated Recaro seats, Takata harnesses, a navigation system, and a custom sound system. The headliner and trunk lid were constructed of yellow tartan fabric. The car is also equipped with air conditioning, power locks, and power windows. All adapted from a C6 Corvette.
A carbon-trimmed C6 Corvette center console, gauge cluster, and steering wheel were integrated into the interior. The digital odometer shows around 25k miles.
The 7.0-liter LS7 V8 was built by Lingenfelter Performance and installed in 2018.
The drivetrain was sourced from a 2013 Corvette Grand Sport and includes a six-speed automatic transmission. A quad-exit dual-mode exhaust system has also been installed. The selling dealer notes that the transmission’s Sport Mode does not work.
