This 1974 Volvo 142 2-door was built by the seller taking many of his favorite components from different years of the model. The result is great, and it is capped off by a custom turbocharged and intercooled B20 engine mated to a T5 5-speed transmission. The body was re-painted in the factory color and all of the modifications are well thought out. The seller has perfect feedback and sounds like he knows the car very well. Find it here on eBay in Ohio. Special thanks to BaT reader Chip E. for this submission.
The medium blue color looks great on the car, and the seller notes that the GT front grille with integrated lights is a very rare piece. The front has been converted to a smaller bumper, but the rear retains its large ’74 spec unit. A smaller rear bumper might be cool, and upon our first quick view we thought we’d want to lose the rear spoiler, but the seller says that it is a genuine item like those used on the 242 touring cars, so that gives it a solid reason to stay. Wheel make isn’t mentioned but they look good and remind us of Dinan BMW wheels with their gray finish.
The interior was grabbed from a later 242GT. It is a good stock look that will appeal to Volvo purists and we like the iconic headrest design. This is a factory sunroof car as well.
The engine bay looks very clean and the Garrett turbo plumbing looks custom. Fuel injection is likewise purpose matched to the set-up and the intercooler is a water-to-air unit.
This is a great looking car and pre-smog for California buyers. It would make a great driver or event car. We especially love that the sale will include an interaction with the actual builder who knows so much about the details.
