This 1959 Volvo PV445 (chassis 27116) sounds to have been converted to a pick-up when still new, a job performed by several Swedish coachbuilders including Valbo and Nordbergs. Recently refurbished with what’s minimally described as new bodywork and paint, the truck runs an upgraded B20 and 4-speed in place of its original B18 and looks pretty nice in photos. Find it here on eBay in Fountain Valley, California with no reserve beyond an unmet $18,500 opening bid. Special thanks to BaT reader Ken L. for this submission.
Unfortunately, all photos are vertically oriented and many are cropped poorly as well. From what we can make out paint and bodywork both look to be good, though there’s no word on filler, rust repair or any other potentially helpful specifics. We like the dark blue and wooden side strakes, though neither the diamond plate bed floor nor overly modern foglights in front are ideal.
Other recent work included fitment of a new alternator (12V converted), a new battery, weatherstripping, brakes, tires and exhaust. A rarely seen Duett variant, we almost wish it was a bit scruffier so it could be put to proper work–ideally as a parts runner for a vintage Swedish shop.
