Restored Two-Stroke: 1967 Saab 96

This 1967 Saab 96 is a proper two-stroke triple model that’s described as a “restored original.” It looks like an unusually good example in photos, and sale includes both spare parts and a set of shop manuals. 1967 marked the first year for the available Ford-sourced V4, but these tw0-stroke models are still the coolest. Find this one here on Craigslist in Santa Clara, California for $13,500. Special thanks to BaT reader AMF for this submission.

The ad is pretty minimal, but the car does look good and is said to be rust-free and complete. Straight sheet metal and good paint are complemented by very decent brightwork and bumpers, and the old black and yellow plate seen below suggests that this one’s been in California for a long time–possibly since new.

Inside, the interior’s been redone to what looks like a decent standard, though these speedboat-ish colors don’t seem to be factory-correct. The wrapped steering wheel rim probably hides damage, but otherwise things look quite good.

The engine bay is impressively well-detailed, and though said to run great, few additional mechanical details are provided. The seller notes the column-shifted 4-speed’s factory free-wheeling function, though there’s no word on whether it’s working properly, saying only that the car has “no significant mechanical faults.”

Probably too nice to hack up for a rally build, this one looks like it needs little but a case of premix in the trunk.
