This 1997 Volvo V90 wagon has been given an LS1 V8 conversion with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Converse Ford 5.0 V8 swaps were cutting edge in the 80s, but today’s LS engines are far better by every measurement, so the Newman/Letterman/Seinfeld cars would eat the dust of this one. We’d still consider a full BTCC livery wrap even though it isn’t an 850. Find it here on Craigslist in Sunnyvale, California for $16,500.
The engine install is shown below, and looks clean. The seller says that no cutting was necessary to the firewall or subframe, and shows detailed video of the radiator bulkhead to demonstrate that the car is not an accident victim. Coil-overs and camber plates are a rare sight on a V90.
The interior is quite tame, with the shifter and the WEX bucket seats the only hint of the added horsepower. We’d actually look to source some clean stock seats if possible. He says that 6000 miles have been added since the conversion.
The seller gives several video walk-arounds, including an under-car video which shows the exhaust routing. If exhaust clearance and overheating aren’t issues, we’d say this one is a massive winner. We’d love to pull up next to BMW drivers in this thing.
