This 1983 Saab 99 is one of the nicest we’ve seen in some time, and though it’s unclear whether the briefly noted 12,700 kilometers reflect an accurate lifetime total, the car’s impressive state of preservation certainly suggest that it may be. Turbo Aztec wheels and a nice color combination are big selling points, too. Find it here on mobile.de in Wolfsburg, Germany for 6,950 euros (-$7,300 USD today).
Bright white manages to look very good here, helped by a good shine from every angle. Bodywork is straight, and shut lines are tight. Bumpers and the little spoiler in back appear dark and supple, as does beltline trim. Turbo wheels always get a thumbs-up, and this set looks to be in condition on par with the rest of the car. One of the car’s coolest features are horizontal-sweep headlamp wipers that deploy via push/pull actuators from behind the grille–here’s a short clip of them in action.
Interior photos are a bit soft focus, making it relatively difficult to get a read on details, but it does appear that everything is accounted for and in good condition. Cloth seat fabrics look very good, and don’t seem to show much wear, though we do see a bit of wrinkling on the lower passenger door panel.
The carb-fed 1.9 liter four was factory rated at 99 HP, which is routed through a 4-speed transmission to the front wheels. Even the headlight buckets and hood springs look clean.
No mechanical details or service history is provided, but if the car’s mileage is correct and the motor is original, we’d wager that many seals and gaskets will be in need of replacement.
