This 1972 Volvo 1800ES is a restored 111k mile example that the seller purchased from the son of the original owner in 2015. It was purchased new in April 1972 in Long Beach California and belonged to the original owner until 2009. The car was restored as a father-son project in 2002, and features an IPD camshaft, Pertronix ignition, and a conversion to a Weber 32/36DGV carb from the original fuel injection. According to the seller the modifications and upgrades make the car a fun, reliable, and practical driver. During his ownership the seller has had the transmission and overdrive rebuilt, and the fluids, filters, belts, and hoses replaced. It is sold with a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

A body repaint was conducted during the 2002 restoration, and stock lighting, trim, and bumpers have been retained. Windows have been tinted, including the glass rear hatch above. Except for the passenger side window, all glass is said to be original. The present Light Blue Metallic (paint code 111) is said to be the car’s original color. The attached appraisal report notes good panel fitment with OEM-quality gaps.

Minilite style wheels from IPD are fitted, and wear Goodyear Eagle Ventura tires with 7/32″ tread remaining.

The interior was redone at the time of the restoration. Modifications include an early-2000’s vintage CD player, non-stock tachometer, and after market steering wheel. Black vinyl upholstery and contrasting blue carpets are further shown in the gallery below and the A/C is said to function properly.

The original engine has been retrofitted with a Weber 32/36DGV carb in place of the stock fuel injection. An IPD street camshaft and Pertronix ignition have been installed. The car has been retrofitted with a Sanden A/C compressor, and converted to R134a refrigerant. The seller had the belts, hoses, fluids, and filters replaced in 2016.

The seller had the transmission and overdrive unit rebuilt in the fall of 2016. Photos of the underside and suspension are attached in the gallery. The car has been serviced as recently as January 2017.

Maintenance history from the original owners is included. This invoice from 1994 shows the recorded mileage as just under 100k.

The original owner’s manual is included, as is the original maintenance booklet. The maintenance booklet was stamped at 6,000 and 8,000 miles. An appraisal report, which the seller had commissioned in January of this year, is attached.
