This 1964 Volvo 1800S is a refurbished example powered by a rebuilt 1.8L inline-four mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car was repainted in a newer Volvo shade of Red Pearl (339), the interior was reupholstered, and the engine and transmission were rebuilt by a Boeing engineer seven years ago. Upgrades include a later model injected head, Isky cam and lifters, Skandix sport exhaust and IPD front sway bar and polyurethane bushings. The car is being sold with original books and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name. Originally finished in black (19), the car was repainted in Red Pearl (339) during the prior owner’s refurbishment in 2009. 32k miles have been added since the bodywork was completed. The finish exhibits some scratching, small paint chips, and wear as detailed further. A larger paint chip is evident on the edge of the trunk lid. All door rubber, glass rubber, and weather stripping were replaced during the paintwork. Bodywork during the 2009 refurbishment consisted of rust repair to the rocker panels and the replacement of a crossmember. Wheels were widened to accommodate the Michelin Defender XT 195/165R15 tires. A period correct set of hubcaps come with the car. The factory red interior was replaced with one from an earlier Jensen and reupholstered during the 2009 refurbishment. No rips or tears are apparent in the black upholstery. Some light scuffs and signs of use are noted on the side bolsters. Newer seatbelts were installed but the original units are included. The two-spoke Volvo steering wheel was wrapped and the high beam floor switch was relocated to the turn signal lever. The secondary horn lever was removed and the steering wheel horn button is said to function properly. All electrical equipment is said to work except for the clock and factory radio. Blue Smiths gauges are trimmed with chrome rings. The odometer shows 32,405 miles, but true mileage is unknown. A later-model injected head and an Isky cam and lifters were added to the 1.8L inline-four. Stock SU carburetors were tuned and rebuilt during the refresh. Oil, fluids, and plugs were replaced 3 months ago, and the seller notes some oil leakage after running. A newer radiator was installed, and the original accompanies the sale. The 4-speed manual gearbox with Laycock overdrive sends power to the rear wheels. One section of the floor and one short crossmember were treated for rust in 2010 and repainted, but signs of age are still shown in various spots. A 2” Skandix Sport Exhaust was fitted in addition to IPD poly bushings and an IPD heavy duty front sway bar. Several lift shots are viewable in the gallery. https://youtu.be/Ea5aK9QYcVs A walk around video is included above. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IQzdEwkaYo A driving and fly-over drone video has been provided by the seller above.
