This 1968 Volvo 1800S was purchased new in California before being moved to Virginia in 1984 by the original owner. The second owner conducted a restoration between 2000 and 2004 after finding it in a barn. Work included replacing the original B18 with a later B20 2.0L inline-four. The twin SU carburetors have been retained, and the transmission is a 4-speed manual equipped with overdrive. Other work included fresh paint, re-chroming the bumpers, and refurbishing the interior. The seller is the third owner and has added 9k miles since acquiring the car in 2007. This 1800S is offered with extensive records, the original steering wheel, and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name. When it was discovered in a barn in the late 1990s the paint was reportedly highly oxidized. The second owner had the body taken down to bare metal and then repainted in the original Dark Green. All panels are believed to be original, and the seller notes some imperfections in the paint on the trunk lid. The bumpers were re-chromed during the restoration and the front bumper exhibits some corrosion. Fog lights were mounted to the front bumper brackets. The brown interior was also refurbished during the restoration. A dealer-supplied sport steering wheel is currently installed, and the original factory wheel is included. The wing window on the driver-side has an incorrect latching mechanism, and the correct piece is included. Except for the clock and radio, all other lights, gauges, and switches are reported to work. The odometer shows 74k miles, but true mileage is unknown. During the restoration, the B18 engine was replaced with a 1973 B20F 2.0L engine that has been fitted with the SU carburetors from the original engine. The seller notes that when driving in fourth gear, the transmission will occasionally pop out of gear. The seller notes an oil leak around the front of the overdrive unit.
