This 1980 Volvo 242 was professionally converted to Chevy 350 crate power in 1999, and though photos let things down, the seller describes a clean, sorted car with full functionality. Details include upgraded disc brakes, IPD-equipped suspension, a 164-sourced leather interior, 240 Virgo wheels and a Hurst-shifted Borg-Warner T-10 4-speed manual, and the ad further claims “no mechanical issues whatsoever.” Find it here on eBay in Woodstock, New York for $10k OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader PGN for this submission. Says the seller: “This car was built by a highly-rated professional technician in 1999. It has about 15k miles since. It was built for torque and is quite fast. It’s very clean inside and out–paint is maybe a seven out of 10 and looks good from 10 feet. Photo coloring is too light–car is Volvo Dark Red.” Excluding the low-key OEM Virgo wheel upgrade and a set of auxiliary lamps mounted to the front bumper the car retains an almost stock look–it takes a keen eye to detect discreet dual side-exit pipes just ahead of either rear wheel. Inside, everything down to the clock is reportedly in working condition, and the seller further notes a crack-free dash and Momo steering wheel–it looks like a small-diameter Montecarlo from here. Leather seats from a 164 look right at home, and the Hurst-topped T-10 is pure Muscle Car stuff. Quoting from the ad: “All gauges work–speedometer and tachometer, as well as all lights, wipers, emergency brake, door locks and electric windows.” Mechanical details are limited, but the carb-fed 350 crate looks pretty mild with OEM cast-iron ram’s horn exhaust manifolds. It’s a nicely detailed looking bay though, showing good craftsmanship and no evidence of cut corners or bodging. The seller further notes a “strong clutch” and “new Flowmaster dual exhaust–yes, it’s loud.” Front and rear IPD sway bars should help keep things a bit more planted, and slotted disc brakes are noted as well. Once more from the seller: “I am in my 70’s and it’s time to part with one of my toys. I welcome an inspection and test drive. Happy to answer all questions from serious buyers.”
