This 1958 Volvo PV445 Duett isn’t running, and the seller freely admits to some localized rust and several large dents as well. On the plus side however, the standard B16 still turns freely and its carbs appear to be in good shape, while apart from the taillights most everything remains intact. Like the seller says, these old Volvos are built like tanks, and this one definitely appears to be worth saving. Find it here on eBay in Prescott, Arizona with reserve not met. Special thanks to BaT reader Duncan L. for this submission. Reads the ad: “It looks like most everything is there. The body is original, clean and nice. A little rust-thru in the front part of driver’s floor, a little on the right rear wheel well opening, and a shallow dent in that lower quarter panel. The rest of the sheet metal is pretty nice. Has dents and damage here and there but nothing serious. Probably the worst is dent on front left at driver side grille–both grille and bumper dented. Taillights missing.” Here’s what the seller has to say in regards to the cabin: “Stock original interior that will need to be gone thru. Headliner, door panels, seats, carpet etc. The wood on the floor looks like it can be finished off with some work.” Door jambs and A-pillars certainly look good here, and glass looks to be in good shape all around as well. These vehicles, though based on the unibody PV series of cars, are actually traditional body-on-frame designs. Volvo intended the name Duett to remind buyers of the vehicle’s dual-purpose design, useful for either passenger or commercial duty. They were sold as panel vans, full-windowed wagons like this example, and even as commercial chassis bare of bodywork from the B-pillars back. Here’s a quick look in back. If rust is truly as limited as claimed there’s no reason this one shouldn’t be restorable, at least based on what can be seen here. A few low-angle shots showing things from underneath are provided as well. Again from the ad: “The stock B16 engine turns over by hand no problem. The carbs are free and move nicely. I think this will be an easy car to get up and running after going thru the fluids, belts, hoses, tuneup, brakes, hydraulics and so on.”
