This 1959 Volvo PV544 was acquired by the seller in 2000 reportedly from its first owner out of California. The car is finished in black over red and white vinyl and is powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels, an IPD front sway bar, Bilstein front shocks, dual SU carburetors, chrome bumpers with overriders, mud flaps, and a Realistic push-button radio. Service under current ownership reportedly included rebuilding the generator, installing a battery, and changing the engine oil and filter. This PV544 is now offered at no reserve with the original bill of sale, an owner’s manual, a warranty booklet, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The PV544 debuted in 1958 as an evolution of the outgoing PV444, and differences included a larger, curved windshield and a larger rear window. This example was refinished in black under previous ownership and features chrome bumpers with overriders as well as Volvo-branded mud flaps. Per the seller, a 2000s accident resulted in the rear bumper being pushed into the body, and areas of rust as well as scrapes and paint checking are noted around the body. Spare rear bumper components are included in the sale.

Black-painted 15″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and whitewall tires. An IPD front sway bar is fitted along with Bilstein front shocks.

The low-back front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in red and white vinyl. Equipment includes front seat belts, a glove box, and a Realistic push-button radio.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames a ribbon-style 100-mph speedometer and gauges for water temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 3k of which were added during current ownership. Total  mileage is unknown.

The 1.6-liter B16 inline-four is equipped with dual SU carburetors, and the six-volt electrical system is said to have been serviced with a rebuilt generator and a replacement battery. The oil and filter were reportedly changed in July 2022.

Power is routed through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional underbody photographs are provided in the gallery below.
