This 1972 Volvo 1800ES is finished in ivory over tan vinyl upholstery and is powered by a fuel-injected 2.0L inline-four paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, chrome bumpers, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and woodgrain interior trim. The car was featured on BaT in June 2012 shortly before the seller’s acquisition, and subsequent work included replacement of the battery and various engine and transmission seals. This 1800ES is offered with service records, spare parts, magazine articles, and a clean Wisconsin title in the name of the seller’s spouse.

The car was finished from the factory in Sapphire Blue (108) and is said to have been repainted ivory under previous ownership. Equipment includes a glass rear hatch with a defrosting element as well as chrome trim, Volvo-branded rear mud flaps, a driver’s side mirror, and prancing moose decals on the front fenders. Rust is visible in the rocker panels and fenders, and a number of paint chips and other blemishes can be seen in the gallery below.

Silver 15″ steel wheels wear polished trim rings and are mounted with 185/65 Michelin Harmony tires that show 2006 date codes. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The front wheel bearings were adjusted in 2017.

The cabin features front and rear seats trimmed in tan vinyl with color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. Woodgrain trim accents the black dashboard, and amenities include an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and a center console with locking storage. Cracks are present in the dash, and rust is visible in the door jambs.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 141k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.0-liter B20F inline-four features Bosch D-Jetronic electronic fuel injection and was factory-rated at 125 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque. Service in May 2018 involved replacement of the coolant hoses and various oil seals. An oil change was completed in 2021.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The transmission fluid and shift linkage were replaced in 2017, and the torque converter seal was replaced in 2018. Rust is present on underside components, additional photos of which are presented in the gallery below.

A hand-written maintenance log, service records, 1800ES magazine articles, spare parts, and copies of a parts list and workshop manual are included in the sale.
