This 1990 Volvo 240 DL was modified under previous ownership with a 6.0-liter LQ4 V8 equipped with a VS Racing turbocharger, a Treadstone intercooler, and a Holley Terminator ECU. The car was by the seller on BaT in October 2023, and subsequent work reportedly included the installation of billet rear suspension spacers, overhauling the differential with 3.27:1 gears, and replacing the throttle cable, ignition wires, valve cover gaskets, and turbo line gaskets. Modifications from previous ownership include an AR5 five-speed manual transmission with a FABbot short shifter as well as a Ford 8.8″ rear end, 16″ ARE wheels, BC Racing coilovers, IPD sway bars, an aluminum radiator, and a custom exhaust system. The car is finished in Light Blue Metallic over a blue interior and features an aftermarket head unit with Bluetooth, power windows and door locks, and a sunroof. This modified 240 DL is now offered at no reserve with parts receipts, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.

The body is finished in Light Blue Metallic (410) and is equipped with a front spoiler, a manual sunroof, mud flaps, and LED headlights. The right headlight has been modified with an intake duct, the front bumper has been drilled, and clear corner lenses have been added. The clear coat is peeling on the hood, roof, fenders, and trunk lid. Rust on the inner door corners, dents, scratches, and other blemishes can be seen in the gallery below.

Powder-coated 16×8″ ARE 398 wheels with polished lips are mounted with 15mm front and 20mm rear wheel spacers, and they are wrapped in 245/45 Toyo Proxes R888R tires that display 2020 date codes. The car rides on BC Racing coilovers, and other suspension modifications include an IPD panhard bar, torque rods, rear suspension bushings, and front and rear sway bars. The brake system reportedly incorporates custom lines and rear discs sourced from a Ford Explorer. The car is not equipped with a parking brake. The seller states that the rear suspension was overhauled following their acquisition, and custom billet rear suspension spacers were installed at that time.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in blue cloth with color-coordinated door panels. The dashboard is cracked and covered by a carpeted mat. A FABbot short shifter and an STS Machining hydraulic clutch pedal were added under previous ownership along with a Dual Electronics head unit with Bluetooth. The car is not equipped with heat or air conditioning.

The 120-mph speedometer and coolant temperature gauges are inoperative, and the tachometer is not accurate. RPM and coolant temperature readouts are visible on the Holly Terminator display mounted to the right of the instrument bezel, and a digital speedometer readout is located to the left of the instrument cluster. The six-digit odometer shows 211k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership.

The 6.0-liter LQ4 V8 was installed in 2020 and was fitted with a VS Racing 7875 turbocharger the following year. The work performed following the seller’s acquisition included replacing the throttle cable, valve cover gaskets, turbo line gaskets, and ignition wires along with changing the oil and coolant. Additional modifications are said to include the following components:

  • Elgin camshaft and hardened push rods
  • PAC Racing valve springs
  • Earls Performance head bolts
  • LS7 lifters and lifter trays
  • NGK spark plugs
  • Melling oil pump
  • Siemens Deka fuel injectors
  • Warr Performance 92mm throttle body
  • VS Racing blow-off valve and wastegate
  • Treadstone intercooler
  • Mac valve boost control solenoid
  • Holley Terminator X ECU
  • Walbro fuel pump
  • Eastwood aluminum radiator
  • STS Machining oil pan and engine mounts
  • Aftermarket fuel pressure regulator
  • Hooker exhaust manifolds
  • Custom exhaust system
  • ICT alternator and power steering bracket
  • Aftermarket coolant reservoir
  • Aluminum timing cover with oil drain

The seller notes intermittent drips from the bell housing area.

The five-speed manual transmission was reportedly sourced from a Chevrolet Colorado and installed using a FABbot AR5 to LS adapter. A Cyber Stage 2 clutch, stainless steel line, a Wilwood clutch master cylinder, and a remote clutch bleeder are also said to have been installed, along with a Ford 8.8″ rear end, a custom driveshaft, and Moog U-joints. The differential was overhauled and fitted with 3.27:1 gears under current ownership, according to the seller.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
