This 1987 Saab 900 Turbo convertible is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle, and it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2022 after spending time in storage. Subsequent work involved repainting the two-door body in red, repairing the power-operated black soft top, overhauling the air conditioning and ignition systems, changing the fluids and filters, and replacing the steering rack, fuel tank, fuel pump, valve cover gasket, oil pump seal, and crankshaft seal. The car rides on 15″ alloy wheels and is further equipped with fog lights, a rear spoiler, power-operated windows and mirrors, replacement woodgrain dash trim, a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer stereo, and heated front bucket seats upholstered in brown leather. This 900 Turbo is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a top boot, a Carfax report, and a clean Virginia title.
The car was repainted in red and various trim pieces were replaced in March 2024. Electrical repairs were made and the power-operated black convertible soft top was replaced and re-sealed at that time. Additional exterior details include gray-finished bumper covers, fog lights, a rear spoiler, mud flaps, a retractable antenna, and Turbo badging.
This is a relist after the vehicle was previously sold on BaT in April 2024 and the sale was not completed due to a leak discovered on the driver’s side and issues with the heater, which have since been resolved.
The 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 195/60 Cooper CS3 Touring tires, and blemishes are visible on the center caps. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners. A replacement steering rack and tie rods were installed in October 2023, and the right upper control arm bushings and the front upper ball joints were also replaced at that time.
The heated front bucket seats and the rear bench are upholstered in brown leather that extends to portions of the door panels and the lower dashboard. Color-coordinated carpeting lines the floors and replacement woodgrain trim accents the dash. Amenities include a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer head unit as well as power-operated windows and mirrors. The air conditioning system was overhauled with a replacement compressor, condenser, and drive belts in October 2023, and the system was charged with R134a refrigerant at that time. Wear is visible on the shifter boot and on the top of the driver’s door panel, and the seller notes that there are cracks in the dashboard and that the driver’s seat heater is disconnected.
The three-spoke steering wheel has a weathered badge and fronts 125-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline and an inset analog clock as well as gauges for boost pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer was replaced under previous ownership and now shows 43k miles, fewer than 1k of which were added by the selling dealer. The Carfax report notes that Not Actual Mileage titles were issued beginning in 2000, and true mileage is unknown.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four features four valves per cylinder and was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. Work performed by the selling dealer since October 2023 involved changing the fluids and filters, overhauling the ignition system, and replacing the valve cover gasket, oil pump seal, and crankshaft seal.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The tailpipe and clamps were replaced by the selling dealer in October 2023 along with the fuel pump and fuel filter. The fuel tank was replaced with a version from a later model in March 2024.
Manufacturer’s literature and a top boot are included in the sale.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage and contains the aforementioned entries from 2000, 2015, and 2017 stating that Not Actual Mileage titles were issued.
