This 1995 Volvo 850 was featured on BaT in December 2016 and is a heavily modified example powered by a turbocharged 2.3L inline-5 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It was purchased by an employee of Snabb Us Volvo in Ithaca, NY in 2012 and the engine and transmission swap was completed soon thereafter. Over the next four years, the wagon was fitted with numerous additional upgrades that included brakes, a charcoal interior and custom headliner, Enkei wheels, R bumper, extensive wiring and much more. The seller added 3500 miles during his six month ownership, and the car is now being offered for sale with an accident-free Carfax and clean Ohio title. A front R bumper was installed and the front valence, rear valence, and hood were repainted and blended into the front fenders. Body panels appear straight, and no accidents are displayed on the included Carfax. Enkei RSF5 wheels show some curb rash on one rim and are wrapped in Hemisphere rubber. Ride height is lowered by IPD springs. A rock chip in the windshield is detailed in the gallery. Inside, a complete charcoal interior was swapped using components from other 850s and a 1999 V70. A custom charcoal headliner was affixed, and the sunroof was rebuilt and cleaned. Some wear and creasing is noted on the driver’s seat and the seat heaters do not function. Dashboard wiring was re-built, and an EGT wideband sensor, and boost pressure gauge are located in a three-gauge pod on the driver’s A-pillar. The A/C was serviced with a new evaporator, o-rings, pressure valves, and switches in 2015. An aftermarket head unit sits in the dash while a large subwoofer is located in the rear cargo area. The odometer indicates 119k miles, but a mileage inconsistency is present on the included Carfax. The 2002 C70-sourced forced-induction 2.3L inline-five has been dyno’d by the previous owner at 267 hp with 318 lb-ft at the front wheels. It was fitted with a 19t turbocharger with a 7 psi wastegate actuator with a drop-in intercooler, 3” intake, and Jetex cat back exhaust. A 5-speed manual conversion was completed during the same time in 2012, with an R clutch, machined flywheel, and short shifter. EFI components were rewired last year. Brakes received a P2 R upgrade with rebuilt multi-piston calipers, and suspension modifications include Bilstein dampers and IPD swaybars. DS front wheel bearings were installed last year. Additional undercarriage photos are viewable in the gallery. The provided Carfax displays no accidents but lists a mileage inconsistency in 2016.
