This 1973 Volvo 1800ES was used by the original owner as a daily driver for nearly 20 years and received an interior refresh and repaint in 1990. The seller was a dealership mechanic who conducted the initial pre-delivery service and has performed much of the maintenance on the car since new. He acquired this example in 2014 after it sat unused for 15 years and installed new mounts for the B20F 2.0L inline-four and BorgWorner 3-speed automatic. The piston rings and rod bearings were also replaced, the cylinder head was modified to higher compression B20E specs, and a Weber carburetor was fitted in place of the factory fuel injection. Other work included a repaint in the factory Deep Green and reupholstering the interior, as well as installing a new A/C compressor, tires, brake lines, ball joints, and tie rods. This 1800ES was shown at the 2017 Pinehurst Concours and is now being offered with its original fuel injection components, a few service records, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name. The repaint in the original Deep Green was performed a year ago and is said to be of high quality. According to the seller, the car has never been in an accident. Chrome trim shows some minor dents, and bumpers and wheel trim rings could benefit from re-chroming. A photo of the car at the 2017 Pinehurst Concours is shown above. New Michelin tires and brake lines have been installed by the seller. The interior was refreshed by the seller with new tan upholstery. An aftermarket head unit was added to the dash, and a newer Sanden rotary A/C compressor has been fitted. The previous York A/C compressor will be included. A crack is noted on the three-spoke steering wheel, and the odometer shows 116k miles, though true mileage is said to be unknown. Approximately 1,000 miles were added by the seller during his three years of ownership. Upon acquiring the car, the seller replaced the piston rings and rod bearings in the B20F 2.0L inline-four and fitted new motor mounts, transmission mounts, and U-joints. The cylinder head was modified to B20E specs for higher compression, and a Weber 38/38 carburetor was fitted and jetted by the seller. Parts for the factory fuel injection system are included and shown in the gallery. Ball joints and tie rods were replaced by the seller. The U-joints for the driveshaft have also been replaced. A number of undercarriage and lift photos are viewable in the gallery.
